Funeral services will be held in Montgomery for Travis Callahan a 47 year old civil engineer from Auburn who was shot to death at his home. His 17 year old son William is being sought by police as a suspect after the fatal shooting and the widow said the boy left with a sawed off .22 rifle and a bag. The coroner reported shots to the heart and head.
A New Jersey firm bought two B 24 bombers tied to an alleged Venezuela plot and resold them to two Dallas men. The War Assets Administration says the Texas Engineering and Manufacturing Co did not buy the planes. The firm had approval to sell three B 25 bombers to Venezuelan airmen who picked up the planes and left for Caracas.
The Bavarian de Nazification ministry said Fritz Kuhn former leader of the German American Bund in the United States escaped from Dachau internment camp this morning. He had been jailed since July for possible Nazi offender trial and was deprive d of his US citizenship in 1943.
Intensive patrol by Wheeler national wildlife refuge personnel aided by state wardens led to the arrest and conviction of twenty one individuals in 1947. Fines and costs totaled 677.75 dollars. All arrests involved hunting or possession of game on refuge land and were tried in state courts.
Funeral services for Newton E Stidham 65 of Cullman were held January 22 at the Sipcoe church with Rev W Hunt officiating. Interment followed in Drinkards cemetery. He died January 30 in Cullman hospital after a long illness. Surviving are his wife three sons and several daughters and other relatives.
Pilots from Pan American World Airways reported seeing a green flare and a white life raft in two separate ocean areas between 65 and 75 nautical miles from New York early today.

Washington February 4 Democrats opted not to press for a larger increase to President Truman's emergency fund. The House trimmed the proposed 1 million emergency fund to about 700 thousand, arguing most items are not true emergencies. Rep Wigglesworth said the current 700k is 200k more than last year and warned against using the fund as a back room kitty.

Sea Horse Frozen Foods Inc sues Capt Marvin Jacker to regain control of the vessel in federal court. The petition says vice president Freuhauf boarded the ship to notify Miller of deposition, and that Miller and others forced Freuhauf off the craft at Bradenton. Mrs Freuhaut says her husband was put ashore Monday due to illness.
Noon report from New York shows cotton futures down sharply with prices for March at about 34.39 a bale, a fall of 75 cents to 1.45 from earlier levels, amid broad market weakness and trading activity at 11 45 A M.
