Denver report on the Geneva atoms for peace session with Lewis L. Strauss leading the U S delegation from 67 nations. Eisenhower praised the work and expressed hope for another meeting noting the event was not an atomic Olympic Games.
Two men were injured when their vehicles side-swiped on the Cotton Belt Road about 11:30 a.m. yesterday, 12 miles northwest of Athens. John H. Black of Athens suffered head injuries and was treated at Athens Limestone hospital. Mahlon Earl Nunley of Pulaski Tennessee may have fractured an arm. Damages were about 600 dollars to the Ford and 150 to the Chevrolet. Patrolman D A Hanserd investigated.
A lightning strike knocked out the patrol's main transmitter at Flint last night. An emergency 60 watt set is in use today, limiting range. Damage is estimated at 1600 dollars by Highway Patrol Engineer A R Coleman. Other damage reported in Morgan County.
The Alabama House approved a bill allowing Wilcox County to fire teachers who advocate school desegregation or who belong to organizations supporting it. Sponsors are Gregory Oakley and Sam Nettles. The measure targets groups like the NAACP and follows a veto override on a separate desegregation tax bill. The Senate plans to reconcile differences on the Goodwyn School Tax Enabling Act.
Calumet & Hecla president E. R. Lovell announced the settlement of a 16 week strike at the Calumet division in Michigan. The union accepted a two year contract with an 8 percent base pay increase and benefits, reversing a prior liquidation order. The vote was 1 120 to 189.
Mrs. James Wilbourn, wife of a tenant farmer, was found beaten to death in Moore's Mill community north of Huntsville. Deputy Sheriff John Washburn said the 46 year old husband James Wilbourn was being questioned at Madison County jail after claiming his wife fell from a truck.
In Houston a restaurant supervisor asked India's ambassador to the United States Gaganvihari Mehta and his secretary B A Rajagopalan to move from the public dining room claiming they were Negroes. Witnesses say six people heard the order and the supervisor cited Texas law banning mixed dining.
A C119 Flying Boxcar crashed and exploded in the Liberty Park area near Charleston Air Force Base killing nine or more. The 456th Troop Carrier Wing unit reported five of 11 crew members were killed with six survivors not critically injured. Firefighters found four civilian bodies as debris and a propeller damaged a home. a tail elevator hung from a tree.
In Korea near the neutral zone a Communist ceremony freed American Air Force 2nd Lt. Guy H. Bumpas and returned the body of Army Captain Charles W. Brown. Bumpas, who had a bandage on his eye, said he was treated fairly well during captivity.
In Morgan County Circuit Court Judge S A Lynne presiding the plaintiff seeks $50,000 damages from the Union. This is the fifth of 30 similar cases filed after a 1951 Wolverine Tube strike. Witnesses for the plaintiff were not today available.
Tennessee River reading at Keller Memorial Bridge morning 19.15 feet, up 14 feet in 24 hours. Rainfall 52 inches by 8 a.m. Forecast shows partly cloudy weather with hot humid conditions and scattered afternoon thundershowers through Wednesday. Highs near 97, lows around 70.
A freight train struck a grammar school bus at a downtown crossing in Spring City injuring 30 and killing 10 children plus the bus driver Raymond Moore. The bus, crossing with cars blocking view, had begun its second week of school with victims all from the Back Valley community.

Dorothy Nell Alford a 14 year old from Falkville is in Lavender Clinic with severe burns after grease ignited while she was placing potatoes on a stove. Doctors report second and third degree burns to face neck arms and thighs and note possible permanent eye damage as the pupil area also burned.
H A Entrekin, a longtime Cullman lawyer and municipal judge, died in Birmingham Saturday at 73. He practiced in Cullman for 35 years after earlier work in Birmingham and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery after funeral services at Ridout Valley Chapel in Homewood.
In Lake Erie near Erie Pennsylvania the 16 foot honeymoon cruiser Little Lady capsized in heavy surf. Skipper 78 year old Harvey Hecker drowned while wife Louise Lussier Hecker 70 survived after three hours in a life belt. Rescuer Herbert Durst pulled Mrs Hecker from the water and she is in fair condition at an Erie hospital.
Gov. James E. Folsom suggested he may mount at least one more statewide bid but left open whether he will seek office again. He said his last major fight ends with reapportionment, then smiled when asked about the odds of success this term. Navy plans four atom-powered submarines announced with two at Groton one at Mare Island and one at Portsmouth NH. CIO United Auto Workers set 18 plant picket lines as 40,000 IH workers strike over a new contract across six states.
