Milk surplus grows as government buys more dairy products
University economist Dr. Bob Cropp forecasts the 1982-83 milk marketing year will see production rise at least 2 percent from the prior year, boosting federal purchases to potentially 16 billion pounds. He cites incentives for higher output and only a 1 percent rise in commercial milk sales as Congress debates price support, fearing higher priced inventory in plants.
