Betty Roe Seeks Policy Role On State Agriculture Board
Betty Roe a northern Douglas County dairy farmer with a 1120 acre operation is appointed to the state agriculture board. She says the appointment lets her share farm perspectives and challenge what she sees as government overreach while defending free enterprise on issues affecting small to mid size farms. The 47 year old lifelong farmer traveled to state and national events to advocate for policy change since 1979 when Purdue economist Don Paarlberg warned standards favor large farms. Roe plans to use her platform to influence policy and protect dairy livelihoods amid farm structure debates.
