Doorninks test chemical hay drying with Quik Cure system
In Wisconsin the Doornink brothers adopt a drying aid sprayed on stems during cutting to quicken hay drying. Using Quik Cure from David McNeill, with a front mounted spray boom and 9 foot push bar, they aim for 25 percent moisture before baling. They report cost about 10 dollars per ton and note protein gains, plus a planned 300 acre hay ground and 2,500 bale day. Local farmer practice and research partners include Pro-Ag crop consultants and Crop Cure material suppliers in Onawa Iowa.
