Yarns contest faces funding doubt at UW Extension
Madison The UW Extension Yarns of Yesteryear Contest remains under a cloud of doubt about its funding for the coming year. Richard Wolf said the program will continue while budget cuts are debated. Gen Lewis would run a 51 percent extension position for the contest and related programs. Wolf awaits word from Stanton & Lee Publishers on securing about $5,000 annually. He aims to broaden funding sources including grants or state newspaper support. The contest, for Wisconsin residents 60 and older, has no entry fee and seeks to remain cost free as funding ends June 30 unless new support is found.
