Wisconsin farmland owners must file by June 30 to qualify for farmland preservation contracts for 1983 tax year credits. Contracts run 10 to 25 years, forbidding nonfarm development in exchange for income tax credits up to 2940 dollars. Eligibility requires at least 35 acres, Wisconsin residency, and 6000 dollars annual farm value or 18000 dollars over three years.
The Wisconsin Assembly votes 94 to 0 to ease foreign ownership limits on nonagricultural land and send the bill to the Senate. If enacted, exemptions would apply to mercantile and manufacturing activities and mineral leasing and mining, with farms and forests still restricted.
The Clark County 4-H dairy show to select state fair entries will take place July 6 at 1 p.m. at the fairgrounds. The county quota for the state fair is 18 animals. Eligible participants are 4-H or FFA dairy members ages 12 to 19 as of Jan 1, 1983. Only purebred animals may be shown, and all animals must come from regular project work with ownership or managerial proof and at least four months of project records.
