Blaney Seed Corn Rebrands as Stauffer Seeds
West central Wisconsin farmers who planted Blaney seed corn this year did so for the last time. Blaney seed corn identification is no more as it becomes Stauffer Seeds from the Stauffer Chemical Co which bought Blaney Farms and its seed business in late 1978. Edwin Blaney founded Blaney Farms in the 1930s, later run by son Richard. The Stauffer purchase also includes Prairie Valley and RBA Inc, boosting the new firm toward the top 10 U.S. hybrid seed companies. The rebrand will appear in the Corn Belt this summer.
