The USDA plans to suspend purchases of process American cheese and switch to bulk cheddar and larger barrels. Commodity Credit Corp. held about 675 million dollars worth of surplus cheese as of June 12, including 290 million pounds of process American and 188 million pounds of bulk cheddar.
