UW River Falls Co op program gives students real farm work experience
UW River Falls College of Agriculture runs a two six month co op program with 44 current participants and about 40 more this winter and spring. Students gain university credit and six credits per work term while earning salaries. Trainees monitor rivers and lake ecology, assist hydrologists, and learn budgeting and management in partnerships with Hiawatha National Forest and Durand Co op. The program, funded by the federal Department of Education, pairs students with employers to build practical skills and confidence for post graduation careers.
