UW dairy scientist Dr. Howard J. Larsen outlined methods at Marshfield and Ashland to boost replacement calf survival, optimize heifer growth, and manage dry cows. He detailed housing, ventilation, grain and forage plans by age, early rumen development, milk feeding with whole milk, and balanced rations to prevent pneumonia and scours.

David N Farrimond will head the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives grain division. He comes from Farmland Industries in Kansas City where he aided six states in manager training and grain marketing.
