Aerial searches seize 22 tons of Wisconsin marijuana
Madison officials say aerial searches this fall yielded 22 tons of Wisconsin grown marijuana valued at at least 8.8 million dollars. Over eight weeks 18 marijuana fields were found in Trempealeau Dunn Green Lake Grant Eau Claire and Sawyer counties with crops hidden in woods gardens and fields. Most arrests were not made as harvesters could be at large. The program started with a 10000 federal grant and aided a sixfold rise in state seizures in 1983.
