McKay Freed as Judge Declines Train Jump Charge
A.F. McKay, an insurance agent from Springfield, was bound over to Coshocton county court on Tuesday after a long hearing. Mayor Cassingham ruled he was not guilty of unlawful train jumping and that the fare dispute must be decided by the Coshocton common pleas court regarding mileage contracts with the Central Passenger Association. McKay was released on his own recognizance as the mayor postponed final action to the next session.

Not a Strong Bill Roiled Over Canal Lease Provisions
Chief Engineer Perkins of the Ohio board of public works says the two mile provision in the Sheppard act regulating leases of state canal property for railroad right of way has no effect. He notes General Wikoff drafted the bill and changes in the house may have nullified its impact. He argues leases may cover any canal length for steam or electric railroad right of way. A joint meeting of the state board and canal commission considered lease applications under this act.
