Roosevelt Not Candidate for Democratic Nomination
United Press dispatch from Washington reports Franklin D. Roosevelt, Assistant Secretary of the Navy, says he is not a Democratic presidential candidate for 1928 and sees no chances of nomination. He notes Governor Smith’s opposition to nullification and contrasts New York’s liquor laws with Prohibition under the current administration, asserting Smith’s potential as president would favor enforcement of the Volstead Act. Mrs. Nicholson calls Smith’s nomination utterly impossible.
