London reports from Hongkong say about five thousand people were killed by a tidal wave near Youngkonly west of Hongkon. Twenty thousand homes were destroyed at Voungkonje with hundreds of ships and jetties damaged. Damage was estimated at 1,000,000.

Robert Allen, a Venango County bricklayer, was arrested here last night by Patrolman John Ruppersbury on a warrant from Oil City. Authorities say Allen is wanted for forgery and obtaining money under false pretenses. He was taken to Oil City for hearing this afternoon.

The White House visit cited dining with Secretary Hoover and tour chatter, while Mt. Carmel ant hracite conference forecast Fisher as Gov reelection key. Reed backed Fisher as gubernatorial candidate and pledged continued service despite political pressures.
A weather forecast warns of freezing temperatures icy rain and snow flurries sweeping the middle west by tomorrow night The morning temperature in the 60s is expected to drop by about 20 degrees within 24 hours Storm warnings are in effect for Lakes Superior Huron and Michigan.

Three focal Wasser cases involving Ralph Saracehio Pete Giroy and James Titus were set for September trials following raids by focal and state police last spring. Donald Geertson pleaded guilty to breaking parole. Walter Ross pleaded not guilty to larceny and will be tried in November. Geertson remains in county jail as a witness. further terms to be considered at Ross sentencing.

Lawrence Sydow, 18, of Baie Pa, was in critical condition after an accident near Girard Pa when contact with a high tension wire caused severe burns. Police report suggest possible hunting activity led to the mishap.
Herman Hamberger, a New York jewelry importer, told police in St Paul that he was kidnapped from a motor bus in the business district and robbed of uncut diamonds valued at $125,000. He was forced into a car and dumped in a distant area shortly before noon.

A 76 year old Spartansburg man, grieving his wife’s death last May, died by suicide in his barn Sunday afternoon. His son Lyric Murdock and neighbor George Davis found the body about eight o clock. An inquest returned verdict of death by own action. The deceased had been a former bank director and was highly regarded in Spartansburg.

Paul Smith a 90 year old Harrisburg man was turned over to the county coroner as a witness in the investigation of the death last Friday of Mrs Helen Postel 45 of Coverdale near here Mrs Postel was shot during a party in her home in Coverdale and died shortly after authorities reported a quarrel preceded the fatal shooting
