Weather, politics, and local notices mix in Erie page
A crowded Erie news page lists Democratic candidate Raverl Myers at Hotel Corry and a local weather note along with various items: 40 Pennsylvania food dealers prosecuted in September for pure food law violations, a National Grange radio program October 18 with the Army Band and soprano Dorothy Beegar, and Pennsylvania Railroad nine-month net income of 11.6 million. Other notes include WPA relief-card abuses broken up in Pittsburgh, city squirrels ahead of hunting season, a grass fire near Erie Railroad sparked by train sparks, potential filling station on North Center Street, a divorce suit for Edna M. Brown against Dan Brown, and tax liens on about 60 percent of Erie properties. Additional items cover county conference speakers, state payroll changes, Marion Tripp’s hospitalization recovery, and a rise in foreign liquor consumption.
