Harrisburg Oct 17 Governor George H Earle signed pardon papers fulfilling the tearful plea of a wife to free her convict husband Curtis F Thomas of Harrisburg near death from tuberculosis He was serving an 18 month sentence for breaking into a freight car and was to be released from the Eastern Penitentiary in Philadelphia. The same issue reports Morris Ice Glantz a veteran theatrical figure in Pittsburgh dies at 88 in Squirrel Hill House.
Treasury reports government revenues lagging behind last year as 1985 fiscal year progresses. From July 4 to October 15 receipts totaled 1.12 billion versus 1.42 billion in the prior period, underscoring pressure for new federal tax proposals.

A historic Tacoma hotel designed by Stanford White burned in the morning blaze. About 120 guests escaped as flames swept through hallways and up the elevator shaft from the basement. The fire began in the basement around 6 30 a m from an undetermined cause.

State Highway Patrolman Ronald R. Hepler of Vandergrift was discharged on assault and battery charges after a hearing in New Bethlehem Pennsylvania. The case stemmed from a scuffle at a firemen's carnival last August with Paul Foulks a Port Barnet firefighter. No corroborating evidence showed intent to kill or murder.

Aber, Fedoush, Hornick, and two New Kensington suspects face charges for receiving or possessing stolen autos and goods. Police say the ring operated for about a year, stealing multiple cars and abandoning them in various towns.
Witnesses were recalled to Erie today in the damage action brought by Mrs. Harry Alexander against Norman Edinger after an automobile accident on Hare Creek road. The case began yesterday and resumed this morning. it was expected to go to the jury later today.
Fire destroyed the Yarg arn barn on East Columbus Avenue in Corry shortly after 11 last night. Owned by R Retherford of the Retherford Sales Stables the 1840s structure stood on the Skinner property and was estimated at about 2000 dollars. The blaze drew hundreds as water shortages hindered firefighting and no livestock were harmed.
