Albert R. Longnecker 89, manager of Perry Furnace Company in Erie, died when his car hit the rear of a truck trailer. The truck driver, Joseph Lester 81 of Cleveland, pulled Longnecker free as the trailer caught fire. The truck was owned by Midwest Haulers Inc of Toledo and en route to Rochester, New York.
Baily Mulligan faces two damage suits in Crawford county common pleas court at Meadville over a February 1938 collision on the Titusville Union City road near Centerville. Plaintiffs Thomas Stewart and Joh L Mackinnon claim their car wrecked after Mulligan veered across the road forcing them to follow and pass, with injuries requiring Titusville hospital care. The trial continued yesterday and adjourned to today, with verdict expected later.
Harrisburg reports that Whealton Company Inc Philadelphia faces license revocation for selling trusteed diversified royalty certificates in Pennsylvania. The state Securities Commission acted after hearings and prior FTC findings alleging inflated trust values and misrepresented royalties to customers.
