Damaged New Franklin Street Car Attracts Police Attention
A near Franklin Street passenger car owned by Whittlesey was badly damaged after being struck by a car driven by James Foley on South Center Street in front of the Raymond Manufacturing Company. Foley’s car, owned by Lea McCarthy, reportedly swerved to avoid a second vehicle. Accompanying Foley was Harry Purcell, later arrested for drunkenness. Meanwhile the Girls Friendly Society held a parish hall meeting with Mrs. G. Smith and Mrs. W. More hosting. officers were elected and dues discussed as the group plans weekly gatherings for girls over 12.
