Buried Alive As Concrete Falls at Union Depot Site
In Cleveland two workers Patrick Tools and Patrick Cleary, both 27 to 29, were buried under a 50 ton fall of fresh concrete from a 105 foot hole at the Union depot site after a 12 hour rescue effort. The accident halted all other contract work as crews labored to recover the men. Tools and Cleary were at the bottom of the pit when the concrete pressure caused the retaining walls to fail, sending cement into the work area.
