Final Shawmut passenger service ends between St Marys and Brockway

Saturday afternoon service on the Shawmut railroad ceased between St Marys and Brockway and St Marys and Olean. Final trips drew good crowds as locals hoped to remember the era of passenger trains in town. Mayor Roberts of Tamestown outlined a plan to build a milk plant with federal aid in Washington, claiming it would cover costs and cut consumer prices. A Dunkirk man, Herman Geisey, 55, who leaped in front of a train, was buried in the Dunkirk town cemetery. Sterling milk ads drum up daily delivery. Mrs Inez Blakeslee is seriously ill at home with little change in condition. The Woman's Club rummage sale is slated for Friday and Saturday in the vacant store room next to Root's Furniture. H H Club meets Thursday at 2:30 pm in the IOOF hall for closing before summer vacation with Mrs Arthur Mapes, Mrs Florence Hallman and Mrs Carl Gustafson hosting. Relatives of George and Random Wood are invited to the fifth annual reunion July at the home of Mr and Mrs Thert Wood in Corry. ?>
