In New Jersey police sealed the Paterson jail after a threat warned a plot to free eight Pompton Lake gang members held there. Investigators linked two escapees to a $427,500 armored car robbery in Brooklyn last August. A tipster, believed to be a stud pigeon, alerted Chief Murphy who ordered an emergency lockdown with armed officers patrolling rooftops. The eight prisoners, including one woman, were to be paraded for public viewing later that day, though plans could change due to risk.

Sir Botton Byres Monell stated Germany would adhere to the London treaty rules on submarine warfare, though seeking parity only if needed due to others' strength.
Harrisburg reports no lapse in FDIC protection if banks subscribe to Class A stock before July 1. Dr Luther A Harr, Pennsylvania State Secretary of Banking, says fear of insurance ending June 30 is unfounded after a telegram from Leon P Crawley, chairman of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation.
June 25, 1935 Medellin Colombia United Press reports two Americans among 19 killed when two Ford tri-motors collided over Olaya Herrera airport. Victims Henry Swarts 36 of Philadelphia and Lester W Strauss of New York. Grant Flynn leapt from a burning plane, suffered minor burns but escaped. Gardel death mourned across South America as Valentina's death is recalled.
Police launch a city wide campaign to root out shops selling fireworks in violation of a local ordinance. Officers will detain sellers and question youths in possession to identify responsible parties. Chief Burlingame notes sales persist just outside city limits and suspects most activity from nearby stores.
Daniel Benfield 60 is shot dead at his Pennsburg home by son-in-law Lloyd Kuhns 38 who then shoots himself. Kuhns dies in hospital. Neighbors say long dispute. Benfield had Kuhns arrested last fall for threats to family. Separate item notes Alfred Sacker named ambassador to the United States from Nanking China as of June 25.
Alton Grosby, 47, of North Clymer RD 2, was seriously injured on his farm when he fell from a barn while making repairs. He sustained a broken right shoulder and left wrist, was treated by a local doctor, and then taken to Corry Hospital where his condition improved but will be incapacitated for some time. Samuel Swartz Jr., 20, of Union City RD 4, was also brought to Corry Hospital after a horse fell on him, causing a fracture of the leg while he worked on the farm.
Corry residents risk loss of relief as heads of families fail to register for work at both the state and federal employment bureaus in Erie. The deadline is this evening, with the Reclassification Division opening a Corry branch in the Municipal Building to list job-ready persons. Families missing registrations will be ineligible for direct aid, stripping them from relief rolls. about 7,000 are registered in Erie County, a fraction of some 30,000.
Harry M. Engh general manager of the Pennsylvania Telephone Corporation spoke at the Rotary Club luncheon in the Hotel Corry about the company’s operations equipment and broadcast hookups. He answered many questions. George Orcutt gave a brief report on the U S Open golf at Oakmont and noted participants. Guests included C. C. Crawford and C. C. Swift of Edinboro and F. Richardson of the city.

Harold A. Shreve 24 chief deputy to Sheriff WV Dell Darling died at St Vincent's hospital Erie after a three week illness from toxic poisoning. Survived by widow and parents of Union City, he was a World War veteran and Mason.
The Board of Education met to hear Secretary Charles Hf Geiger reveal a year end deficit requiring about 13000 dollars to balance the books by June 20th. The shortfall stems from tax collection declines and delayed state aid, with a previous 3000 dollar loan already made. A committee of Mrs E C Barnes and Mr Love was appointed to investigate and report soon.
Washington June 25 Senate and House conferees on the Wayne Connery labor disputes bill are expected to reach final agreement today after removing the House freedom of the press amendment. The amendment had stated that nothing in the act shall abridge the freedom of speech or press as guaranteed by the First Amendment. No record of it was kept.
