Three Elk County Men Enlist for Army Air Corps
Thirty five men including three from Elk county left the U S Army reception center at New Cumberland Pa Friday for Jefferson Barracks Missouri to join the Army Air Corps. The Elk county trio are Thomas D Lear and Paul M Michael of St Marys and William H Tupple of Johnsonburg. Wayne Magee Clarion Dr H H Barr Kane and Kenneth Lewis Wilkinsburg rode a boat on the Clarion river near Gravel Lick Sunday when a large black bear twice plunged into the water and followed the boat. One man said he thought the bear tried to escape a dog on the river bank.
