Mrs EB R Welsh of Jamestown suffered lacerations and other injuries when struck by a car driven by Thomas Rose, also of Jamestown, in the city yesterday afternoon.
Local items report a Lifebuoy soap sale, fire department activity, a bridge party hosted by Mr and Mrs Charles Wales, and funeral arrangements for Mrs Henrietta Skimmerhorn. Additional notes cover police chief appointments, market notices, a baseball injury, school and city council items, and various community updates.
In Oil City on January 9 a wave of severe colds or light grippe hits the community. About 14 teachers absent plus 1 percent of high school pupils and many grade students missing. Senior high reports over 100 pupil absences. South Side junior high 60. Lincoln junior high 30. overall attendance drastically down, with substitutes covering classes and average absence about four weeks.

Harold Nathan, assistant to J Edgar Hoover, reports a gang case tied to the St Valentine’s Day Fung massacre. Bolton, a minor member, is sought for questioning as Gibson is said to be a principal. Two women were fatally wounded as officers took Bolton into custody. Mr and Mrs F L Peterson celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at the Bemis Point home of the Cravids with a surprise party.
Police report two small robberies and two attempted break ins near Brie last night and this morning. One officer was mildly hurt during the investigations as an unidentified suspect escaped after a chase. Spaghetti is served every Tuesday and Thursday at the First Avenue Restaurant, which opened today.
