E Smith Sewer Repair Program Nears Completion
Street Commissioner Boward Harrington reported today that extensive improvements on East Smith Street will be finished soon. The east sewer from Fayt Wayne Street to the iron pipe near the former slaughter house was found in dire condition with brick breaks causing clogs. Dirt and refuse were removed and new openings added to ease future cleaning. The East Wayne street sewer was also cleaned, reducing high water risk that has flooded basements on East Smith, East Wayne, Frederick and Congress streets.
