Three Corry establishments seek liquor licenses while the City Club of Corry with proprietor Clay Phelps is reported denied a permit. European and Phoenix hotels and a Rose Amorosa restaurant on Mast Main Street applied for licenses and expect permits soon. Rathskellar on North Center Street did not renew, and other city liquor sellers reportedly had licenses renewed or lapsed.
Corry’s sink of the Pennsylvania National Guard, Company A, returned today after a two weeks encampment at Tidiantown Gap. Six five members arrived by truck at 6:45 am and disbanded for their homes. The camp was praised as successful though less rigid. one minor injury, Private Wred Schultz, occurred during a long hike. Captain W S Houghton, First Lieutenant Robert Brown, and Second Lieutenant Ross Fettiman led the company of 65 with three officers.

A new International truck owned by Zalareck Brothéra was badly damaged when a heavy bucket rigging cable broke at Hammond Elevator Company. United Press reports University of Chicago scholars have unearthed ancient Persian sculptures at Persepolis described as an archaeological paradise. Dr Erich F Schmidt says the pieces adorned courtyard porticos and include silver coins bearing Alexander the Great, with dramatic reliefs showing Darius and Xerxes.
Powell a Grant Nebraska high school junior pleaded guilty to attempting to extort twenty thousand dollars by threatening to kidnap child star Shirley Temple. The case followed a lengthy investigation ending with Powell in custody as district court awaits sentencing. His father and mother faced related charges.
Five residents of Kenosha Wisconsin were killed and several injured when their vehicle collided with a Weilge east of here. The dead include Mrs Saat Uuswaet Mrs John T Casayeu and Mr Raymond Barnes. One passenger Fredaun is listed as a family friend. The crash left others in critical condition with immediate medical treatment ongoing.
James A Farley resigns as postmaster general to chair the Democratic national committee from New York. He plans a nationwide campaign with a $2,000,000 budget, organizing New York headquarters at the Biltmore and meeting state leaders daily as the party gears for the 1936 campaign.

Edward W. Lewis reports United Mine Workers President John Lewis and Maj George L. Berry criticize Governor Landon’s bar policy as isolating workers from the trade union movement. They deem Landon’s labor philosophy as misaligned with organized labor and reveal plans to mobilize farmers and unions to support Roosevelt’s re election.
In Panama City and Pensacola Florida a tropical hurricane weakened after days of destruction leaving nine dead and over $100000 in damage across Northwest Florida. The schooner Bob found safe in a bayou near Pensacola refuge amid strong winds. Five men remain missing after the tug Minnielle sank in Choctahatchee Bay and two sailors were believed drowned when a pier collapsed.
The Western Rural Electric Cooperative Meadville receives an extra 299000 allocation believed to secure the Beaverdam project. The RIA released 4500000 for financing 4200 miles of power lines across 12 states, with Meadville’s share included.

PAUL Minn Aug 1 Two witnesses said John P Pfeffer took some sort of small pill as he stood before Judge M M Joyce yesterday to receive a 30 year sentence for conspiracy in the William Hamm Jr kidnapping Pfeiffer died of poison a few hours later Investigators believed he expected heavy sentence and concealed a lethal capsule in his handkerchief.

Commander G T Bergman was chosen as delegate to the state convention to be held in Johnstown later this month at Elmer C Carrier Post 365 meeting. Justin Butters elected alternate delegate. A large Corry post delegation is expected with Lloyd Stowe leading the northwestern district. The group will also discuss a Labor Day celebration in Columbus at an early next week conference.
