Bremen Flight to New York Ends in Unknown Waters
A German airship Bremen attempting a 1800 mile overwater flight to New York struggled against near winds and fuel exhaustion. It crossed toward Newfoundland and Labrador, likely veering off course, and eventually landed near a sparsely inhabited icebound island in the strait between Newfoundland and Labrador. The fate of the other heavier planes remains uncertain as they reportedly ran out of fuel far out at sea.
