Missouri Dance Hall Disaster Claims Thirty Five

A blast at a West Plains Missouri dance hall and adjacent buildings killed 35 and injured many more. Fire and smoke trapped victims as witnesses recalled people hurled through windows and burned amid collapsing walls. Coroner opened an investigation with more bodies feared in ruins.

Continue Move to Oust Klan From State

Pittsburgh April 14. Moves to drive the Ku Klux Klan from Pennsylvania intensified as state authorities consider actions to revoke its charter. Barrickman, Pittsburgh attorney, helped secure a federal court victory opposing the Klan. Judge Thomson harshly criticized the group for involvement with dangerous activities. Arrest on check charge heard in Union City case

H Herman of Union City to have hearing before Algerman Gordon Tuesday on charge of casting worthless checks. Herman was arrested in Union City where he runs a collection agency. First Radio Operator Confirms German Flyers Safe

New York April 14 W F Barrett operator of the stall radio station at Paint Amony Labrador relayed the news that the German flyers and their Irish comrade are safe ending hours of suspense. The message was sent via relays to SS Johns Newfoundland and broadcast worldwide. The report notes a German plane landed Greeny Island at noon with slight damage and the crew well.

Lieut Smoot Speaks at Local State Police Meeting

Lieut Smoot of the State Highway Patrol spoke at a Corry Camp 26 State Police sponsored public meeting at Municipal bullring drawing about a hundred attendees. He praised patrol duties and stressed officers act only in official duties not with motorists, sharing experiences and addressing concerns of lady drivers. Will Open Bids On Eighteen Roads In Pennsylvania

Harrisburg Pa April 14 Bids will be opened here by the State Highway Department May 3 and 4 on eighteen road projects totaling more than forty miles of highway. A bridge over Oswayo Creek on Route 226 Ceres township McKean County is included for May 4. Projects bid on May 8 include Clarion Erie and Washington areas with concrete construction listed.

Snow Buries 200 and 20000 Animals in Chile Flood

Santiago April 14 The Tales correspondent of Nacion reports 200 people and 20000 animals buried under 24 foot snow in the Los Girones region. Many buried in ravines for days with no death list yet, feared cold exposure. Region isolated. authorities sent doctors and relief from Santiago by truck.

Bremen Airplane Forced Down Near Labrador Island

A Junkers Bremen monoplane forced to land on Greenly Island Labrador after running short of fuel. Crew reported the craft damaged but the pilots and six Germans were safe. The flight from Ireland to Newfoundland faced heavy winds and perilous conditions.
