Miss Corry Area Scholarship Pageant set for April 11
Miss Susan Robinson of Hershey will participate in the Miss Corry Area Scholarship Pageant at Corry Area High School on April 11 at 8 pm. The event, an official Miss America preliminary, is sponsored by the Corry Area Jaycees with John Kirch as chairman. Tickets are $2 adults, $1 students. public invited. Jane Kenyon Leishman and Jon Acheson Black announce engagement and January wedding plans at First United Presbyterian Church Corry. Jane is a CAHS graduate and Slippery Rock sociology senior. Jon attends Princeton Theological Seminary. Miss Corry Area will represent Erie County at Miss Pennsylvania finals in Hershey in June, with potential Miss America eligibility.

Local youths chosen for two day Harrisburg trip
Dean Vanderhoof of Kane Area High School, son of Mr and Mrs Larry Vanderhoof, was selected from 20 students to join a Kane area trip to Harrisburg Gettysburg and Hershey this month. He is an eighth grade Kane High student chosen by classmates for the honor. The Corry Memorial Hospital Auxiliary meets Monday at 8 pm in the hospital conference room with The Greater Erie Eye Bank speakers presenting A Boy With a Blindfold film narrated by Walter Pidgeon. Mrs Gerald Pless urges full attendance. Former Corry residents Mr and Mrs John Minor report on their son First Lt William Minor stationed at McDill AFB Tampa Fla and daughter Sharon Minor in Berea Ohio. William is registrar at the base hospital. Sharon directs music at St Paul's Lutheran Church. Youngest daughter Susan is a sophomore at Iroquois High School active in band and orchestra. Norberta Kane and daughter Sharlene Kane return from New York City. Lionel W Tripp announces annual Men’s City Association banquet on April 7 at 6:15 pm at the VFW Post Home. Corry Bridge Association hosts Howell bridge session
Wednesday evening the Corry Bridge Association met at the Corry Motor Inn for a five table Howell session with winners led by Robert Larsen of Jamestown and Mrs TH Treat. A regular game and a minister’s game were planned for upcoming evenings with reservations noted. The Tuesday YMCA game drew players from Union City Titusville and local towns with many prize winners and numerous attendees listed alongside general chairmanship and donor acknowledgments. A memorial fund appeal was noted, with final totals pending.
