Lawmakers seek tuition aid after Corry blast tragedy
State Representative R Budd Dwyer announced plans to push House Bill 1967 and House Bill 1947 to provide four years of full tuition at state colleges for children of firemen and law enforcement officers killed or totally disabled in the line of duty. The move follows Easter Sunday’s Corry disaster that claimed five volunteer firefighters, including three with eight children among them. Meadville and Corry deaths prompted memorials, sympathy from Sherwin Williams, and school services set for 11 am Monday with a brief two minute silent tribute.
