Travel Group Launches All-Out Southern California Tourist Drive

An all-out campaign to keep visitors longer in southern California was unveiled after the Roads to Romance Association annual meeting. The tourist boosters, a six-county group, claim extending stays by one day could add about $1 million daily to the region’s income. Key organizers include David Olmstead and Joseph E. First Guest Show Opens for Coronado Art Association

The Coronado Art Association previews its first guest artist show Sunday featuring Rex and John Brandt. Brandt, president of the Californias and former Riverside Junior College Art Center director, now teaches at Chouinard in Los Angeles. A preview for members of the association and the San Diego Fine Arts Association is set for Saturday, with tea from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Coronado Art Gallery.

Compass Publisher Returns From U S Tour

Louis Millen publisher of The Coronado Compass and his wife returned from a six week motor tour of the United States visiting 27 states and nearly 10 000 miles. They spent June Week with their nephew Edward C Waller at the U S Naval Academy. They traveled from New Orleans to Annapolis Washington New York City Chicago Denver Salt Lake City and Zion Canyons and Hoover Dam. Millen said national conditions were good and that the east coast is beautiful in June before returning to Coronado.
