Coronado's Own Guard Battery to Activate July 10
Coronado's Own Battery B of the 730th Anti Aircraft Battalion in the California National Guard will be activated July 10 at the San Diego Armory. Lt. Col. Bry ant Kearney said the cadre includes 20 Coronado men and 10 from Imperial Beach and South Bay, expanding to a four officer and 117 enlisted peace strength. The war strength in national emergency will reach about 150. Temporary quarters may be found in the USO building pending a state armory, with permanent armory costs estimated up to 120000.

Crowds estimated near 10 000 watch the Coronado Chamber of Commerce fireworks show over Glorietta Bay staged by Golden State Fireworks of Redondo Beach. Fire Chief Frank H Welch supervised a 45 minute program cut to 30 minutes due to defective fuses. Police Major J W Jordan directed traffic as about 60 percent of attendees came from out of town.

Third Parents Conference Set For Next Monday
The third in a series of Parents Conferences will be held Monday at 8 p.m. in Room Three at Coronado High School. Pop Millar, city juvenile officer, announced the meeting to discuss a proposed curfew law and to gather parental views on a standard ordinance for Coronado to align with county laws. Hearing on Ferry Rates Scheduled for Thursday
Coronado will be represented by City officials and Chamber of Commerce officers at a San Diego Civic Center public hearing on ferry rate increases.
