Coronado Stables Operator Dies From Gunshot Wound
James Walker 64, operator of Coronado Riding Stables, died Friday in a local hospital from a gunshot wound described as personal safety related. He was found at his stables by Paul Davy, rushed to the hospital by Police Lt. Frank Greene and Sgt. Joseph Hoppe. Walker, a Scotland native who had lived in Coronado 20 years, was reportedly despondent. Deputy Coroner David Bone investigated the death. Private graveside services were held last Monday at Glen Abbey Memorial Park.

Senior Play Night Mystery Set for May 6 7
High School seniors select The Night of January 16 as this year’s mystery play to be staged May 6 and 7 in the school auditorium. Navy launches new reserve commission program this summer
Coronado members of the Organized Naval Reserve were advised this week that the Navy Department will launch a new program this summer to provide an opportunity for Reserve members to obtain a commission in the Reserve, upon graduation from an accredited college. The Reserve Officers Candidate School will provide two six week courses in naval science to be completed before a candidate receives his college degree and commission. Only the basic course will be offered this first year, starting July 7 at the U. S. Naval Station, San Diego.
