Robert F Allen Dies After Long Illness

Robert F. Allen aged 68 died at his Comanche home on Friday September 22 following several months of poor health. A long time Higginboro & Company employee and a well liked salesman he had been in the hardware department for twenty six years. Funeral services were held at the Central Christian Church with Dr Lingman officiating and interment in Oakwood Cemetery. He was born March 30 1871 in Cumberland Tennessee and came to Texas 35 years ago living first in Whitewright then Comanche. He married Cooper Guthrie on March 31 1910 and they had a son Bob Allen of Comanche. he is survived by a sister Mrs Bob McComas of Tennessee. He was a member of Central Christian Church.

REA contracts let for Project B in Texas counties

Project B contract let to Uvalde Construction Company for a 110449 dollar bid accepted September 14. The 234 mile line will serve about 475 customers, with headquarters to be set within ten days. Most work will be in Eastland County though lines will traverse Comanche County.

First Baptist Church Sets Sunday Services and Lord's Supper

The First Baptist Church invites attendance at 9:30 Sunday School, 10:00 class study, 11:00 sermon, 6:30 Young People's meeting, and 7:30 evening worship. Passenger Train Demolishes Auto At Logan's Gap

A 1937 Chevrolet Coach was nearly destroyed when hit by an eastbound Santa Fe passenger train at the Logan's Gap crossing at 1:00 am Thursday. R G Huffman of Hasse was driving from the Shrum oil field toward Comanche and leaped off the track as the locomotive struck. The car flew about 100 yards and was later towed to Fagan Chevrolet in Comanche.

Worker’s Conference Scheduled for Hasse

An all day session of the Co manche County Baptist Worker’s conference is planned at a local church. Delegates from area churches will discuss ministry outreach, fellowship, and scheduling next year’s activities.
