272 Bales Cotton Ginned At Gustine
Two hundred seventy two bales of cotton had been ginned at Gustine up to Saturday. While the acreage is comparatively low, farmers report that the yield is good.
Bales Ginned At Priddy Reach Over Four Hundred
Four hundred and three bales of cotton had been ginned at Priddy by Saturday, September 30. Farmers estimate about two hundred more bales will be ginned before the season ends. The Priddy district reports a better yield this year than the previous two seasons.

Three Arrested For Car Theft In De Leon Festival Case
Three Pioneer men Melvin Dupriest Alton Minton and Johnnie Dillard were arrested Saturday and charged with car theft from the De Leon Peach and Melon Festival during the first week of August. The recovered car was found near Duster the next day. Dupriest posted a 1000 bond Minton remains jailed here and Dillard is jailed in Baird facing more charges. The trio allegedly sold spare tire flashlight horn jacks and other stolen car accessories last week in Cross Plains.

36th Division Reunion Planned for Fort Worth Oct 7 8

Comanche Handles Large Peanut Movement This Season
Over two million pounds of peanuts weighed in Comanche this season led by C. F. Denny public weigher. Five buyers including Southwestern Peanut Growers Association and government buyers offered 94.5 cents per bushel for No 1 peanuts. Several plants and firms from nearby towns participate in the market. The county expects to market about the 1938 record crop despite a lighter yield this fall.

J I Starr Barn Burns in Sunday Night Fire
Fire of undetermined origin destroyed the barn on the J I Starr place three miles north of Comanche on the De Leon highway about 8 30 o'clock Sunday. The loss included the barn and about fifty dollars worth of feed with no insurance. Two hogs burned, two escaped. Comanche Fire Department aided in containing the blaze while more than a hundred neighbors helped watch the fire until daylight.

The Assessor-Collector issued the first tax receipt of the year to Cities Service Oil Company of Bartlesville Oklahoma for property in De Leon. G. G. Walters of Gartman View was arrested by Sheriff Wid Spivey on burglary charges related to Indian Creek Church. The August 16 burglary led to the recovery of a Coleman lantern and an Aladdin lamp at Walters home. he remains jailed with a $1000 bond.
