An unaccounted explosion at the Gustine gin blasted through the building killing R. A. McDonald, 53, and injuring John Couch, 18. Debris damaged nearby structures as several workers narrowly avoided harm. Funeral plans for McDonald pending. survivors include his widow and six children.

Stolen Tires Recovered in Sidney Theft Case
Four tires and tubes stolen from Byron Lusk postmaster at Sidney were recovered by Sheriff Wid Spivey. Donald Self of Gouldbush, Coleman County, charged with the theft, was arrested after tires were found in Hempstead. Self admitted selling the fifth tire and posted a $1,000 bond.
