Comanche School Joins Texas State Historical Association

Superintendent W. Z. Compton announces Comanche schools join the Texas State Historical Association, adding Texas history materials to the high school library. The association, organized in 1897 by noted Texians, promotes Texas history and culture with the Southwestern Historical Quarterly edited from The University of Texas.

Driving license blanks available in Comanche area

The 1941 42 driving license forms will be issued Tuesday morning with F E Adams in charge at the First National Bank Building. State Patrol will not issue forms but drivers must present an old license or obtain one from Patrol officers who visit twice weekly. New licenses cost fifty cents and are valid for two years with a deadline of April 1.

Deeds recorded show E. W. Chaney transferring a lot from John Duncan Survey to C. R. Allen for 480 dollars and W. G. Barker selling 5 acres from H&TC Ry Company Survey for five dollars plus other considerations. Mrs. W. H. Young conveys undivided one fifth of a 160 acre tract from Three League Survey to Carl Milner for eighty dollars. J. T. Ross transfers Lots 7 and 8 in Block 9, De Leon, to O. M. Buchan for five hundred dollars. Mrs. Ada Morgan transfers Lot 8 and the West half of Block 9 in De Leon to Paul Holland for three hundred fifty dollars.

Methodist Church Holds Second Annual Meeting Here

More than 100 people attended the Comanche County Livestock Association meeting in the District Court Room on October 17. C. M. Caraway presided. A. K. Mackey discussed markets. Dr. I. B. Goughton spoke on stomach worms. Directors named: C. M. Albin, J. B. Alb corn, Walter Barret, A. H. Caraway, R. S. Conner, Wayne Evridge, Walter Fritts, J. Doss Miller, Otho Phillips, E. C. Seay, Mart Stephens, T. J. Williams. Caraway re-elected president. sixty-four paid memberships and a $102.90 balance reported.

Comanche Youths Injured in Car Wreck Near Cresson

Two Comanche youths Robert Faulkner and Donald Spears were injured Sunday night in a car crash near Cresson while returning to Comanche from Fort Worth. Faulkner in the U S Navy on furlough suffered a crushed shoulder and possible internal injuries and was taken to Camp Bowie Army Hospital. Spears, football end for Comanche High School, sustained facial cuts and body bruises and will be out for several weeks.

Former Comanche Residents Marry in Yuma

Miss Nina Beaty and Gerald Corby former Comanche residents were married Saturday October 18 in Yuma Arizona. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs B F Beaty of Newburg. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs D Corby, formerly of Newburg and now of San Diego. They will reside in Jacumba California where Mr Corby works for a railroad.

Missionary Union meets at Comanche home on October 20

The Woman's Missionary Union of The First Baptist Church of Comanche gathered at Mrs. Vollie Jackson's home for a mission program on October 20. Topic titled An Urgent Gospel Answers South America's How Long Must We Wait. E E Anthony led the study with devotion by R L Black. E G Gregory delivered a message from Isiah Valdivia and wife in Valparaiso Chile. R L Macon gave closing prayer. Hostess served pie à la mode coffee and mints to 22 women.

Sophomores Enjoy Night at Lake Kanes Park

Class of Comancheigh School members spent an evening at Lake Kanes Park under sponsor Woods Mr Dyer and Miss Simpkins. Games were played and the party was enjoyed. WPA workers removed safety hazards along four miles of Highway 24.
