Postmaster J. R. Eanes reports Septembers quarter receipts at Comanche Post Office rose to 4355 dollars from 4243 dollars a year earlier. The year shows increases each quarter with 1940 figures listed for March June September and December quarters and 1941 first nine months totals reflecting gains.

Man Killed in Gasoline Engine Explosion Near Gustine
Jim Yeates 46 of Hamilton died in Stephenville Hospital from burns after a gasoline engine on a WPA road project near Gustine exploded while he and R J Adcock 19 of Gustine poured gasoline into it. Adcock suffered burns but survived. Yeates died about five hours later.

Plans are complete for a big Hallowe'en Carnival by the Grammar School P T A on Thursday evening October 30 at the ball park or gymnasium if weather permits. About 6 000 votes have been cast for Carnival Queen with a 10 000 vote target. Proceeds fund library books for the Grammar School.
