Comanche joined worldwide rejoicing on November 11 1918 as armistice ends World War I. Mayor Eanes ordered business closures 10 am to 2 pm. Anvils fired, guns sounded, and crowds gathered. Schools dismissed children marched to the square while the Comanche Band played Dixie. Herbert Goodson delivered a landmark speech and urged loyalty and fundraising for the United War Work Fund. Newburg Woman Dies From Strychnine Poisoning
Mrs. Mack Henson, 56, a respected Newburg resident, died Saturday night from strychnine poisoning at her home after a family gathering with her five sons present.
