Comanche Dairy Day and Heart of Texas Show Slated in June

Governor Coke R Stevenson designates June as Dairy Month and two Comanche County dairy shows are planned in De Leon. The county show on June 10 features judged cattle, ribbons, a riding contest and $500 plus in premiums. The district show on June 11 draws cattle from six counties with over 100 entries, judged by G. G. Gibson of Texas A and M and assisted by D. T. Simons.

County Produce urges customers to hold on to poultry flocks

Mrs. J. W. Williams Claimed By Death in Comanche

Mrs. J W Williams died at Comanche on Sunday May 19 after a brief illness. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Gustine with Rev Dobbs in charge. Burial followed at Evergreen Cemetery. She was born September 22 1884 in Gustine Texas and married James Walter Williams on December 6 1903. They had ten children and sixteen grandchildren.

A J Williford Opens New Grocery In Comanche

A J Williford has opened a grocery store in Comanche in a new frame building on Walcott Avenue one block west of the high school. He will handle a complete line of groceries and plans to add a meat market later. The public is invited to visit.

County Group Attends Field Day at Denton Station

Richard E Burleson county agricultural agent and Harry Huddleston along with W B Barret John Burton and King Jones attended the Denton Experiment Station Field Day last Friday. They viewed pasture grasses legumes small grains and corn experiments and orders were booked for improved seed varieties being developed at the station. J C Gaddy and wife plan moving to Glen Rose where he has worked at Snyder Hospital and will sell his Denton home.

Gulf Station Under New Management

Hardy Evans and Luther Harkins have taken over operation of the Slider Gulf Station five blocks west of the square on the Brownwood highway and will run a general service station business. W. H. Slider, Gulf consignee, has had a new building erected.

Boswell Family Ties Reported in Local Notices

Mr and Mrs Fred Boswell of Batesville near Uvalde were visiting relatives last week. Fred had run the Baxter Store in Hamilton for several years before selling it about two months ago to enter Marine service.
