Fifty-Six Seniors To Receive Diplomas At CHS Tonight

A record crowd is expected at Comanche High School for the 8 PM commencement in the CHS auditorium. The program includes a band processional, invocations by Dr. Klingman, addresses by Dr. Homer P. Rainey and Sup erintendent Chaffin, presentation of awards, diplomas, and class songs with benediction by Tom Beene.

Mrs Alice Adelia Wilson 73 died May 14 in Fairview, long illness. Funeral at Downing Church of Christ with R C Ledbetter officiating. Burial in Downing cemetery. Survived by four grandchildren, nine great grand children, a son-in-law, a step-mother, four brothers and two sisters among others.

Opening Softball Season Delayed Then Opens Under Lights

The 1946 Comanche softball league opening shifted from last Monday to Monday May 20 due to wet grounds. Six teams participate with doubleheaders every Monday and Friday starting at 7 30 p m. Admission is free and seats are ample. Opening games pit Frank Vineyard versus John Carpenter and Allen Beck versus Oscar Hill with six teams fielded by managers Dyer Carpenter Hill Vineyard Wheat Beck.

Mrs J H Williford of Hasse died May 9 after a short illness at her daughter's home in Comanche Born Jane May Donaho in Erath County on May 15 1878 she moved to Cherokee then Comanche County later marrying James Henderson Williford on Dec 19 1895 Eleven children survive including Lt Col Hobson Williford and daughters Mrs Jess Odell Mrs Bill Mewborn Mrs Gene sdale and others Grandchildren and a brother H E Donaho also survive Funeral details and out of town relatives noted

A F Wells, veteran cafe operator from Comanche, opens The Waffle Shop in the Tate Building on the south side of the share. The formal opening is Monday with a general restaurant service featuring waffles. Hours begin five o’clock on weekdays, closed Sundays.

Band Mothers Form Club to Support Comanche High Band

Mothers of Comanche High School band students organized the Band Mothers Club on April 19 with Mrs. Travis Cunningham as president and Mrs. Ruth Ligon as vice president. Band director M. T. Camp outlined plans for a larger future band and the need for new uniforms. The club aims to raise funds and won’t require only band mothers but community support. The next meeting is set for May 22 at 3 PM in the Band Hall.

CHS Home Economics students presented Romance In Review a style show in Comanche High School auditorium. The production contrasted colonial era proposals with modern marriage ideas starring Martha Sue Parker Odell Ormsby Maxine Pyburn Wayne May and featured brides in old and new gowns. A mothers tea followed with FCHA officers hosting and a hat selection.
