Lt. Fred Capp led the Inf Division unit that seized Tomb Hill on Okinawa as U S forces repelled a Japanese counter assault next day. Soldiers including Set. Robert H Jones of Russellville Alabama woke comrades and riflemen held forward positions for hours. Pfc Woodrow Ellenburg of Mansfield Louisiana and Pfc Charles Potter of White Earth Minnesota also helped repel the assault.

He previously won the medal and is the son of Rev and Mrs E G Gregory of 406 North Houston Street. He attended Howard Payne College before joining the RAF in August 1943.
