Marines Charge Through June 1918 Front Lines
The First Battalion of the Fifth Marines quarters near Martigny in early June 1918 and quickly moves north to relieve the First Division, facing a German offensive surge. They seize Hill 142, endure fierce attacks near Champillon, receive French and engineer support, and later join the pursuit toward Blanc Mont as orders push them north. The narrative follows Marine losses, replacements, and a high-cost campaign culminating with Essen Hook and Blanc Mont operations alongside Sixth French Army and foreign units.
