Farmersoped optimism grows as prices rise impact on crops

A recent price advance boosts farmer optimism as cotton reaches 14 to 15 cents a pound and oats near 40 cents, with other grains rising too. Rain in the coming days could improve the grain crop, while drought could cause shortages, but merchants see positive money flow despite a short crop.

Berry Crop Movin in 1927 County Report

The 1927 berry crop is likely the largest in county history due to increased acreage. Yields are excellent with ideal picking weather, and demand from out of town traders and local buyers is strong as trucks move to selling grounds. Many berries are sold outright or under contracts, boosting county income after cotton prices fell earlier.

Amerada 10 Drill Demonstration and Oil Tests Near Sipe Springs

The Mackey Motor Company will demonstrate the Fordson Gleaner on the Rauhut farm northeast of town showing the first county use of a combine. Amerada Petroleum closes a deal to drill seven test wells on 2100 acres east and north of Sipe Springs with wells to 500 feet deep testing a 1700 foot sand. Locations and start dates expected this week as plans include two more deep wells between Sipe Springs and Gorman on lands of M. Poynor Haile estate and others.
