Civil Defense Program Aims at Young Farmers Meeting
The Comanche County Young Farmer Chapter hosted a Civil Defense program with Marshall, rescue divers, and local volunteers presenting. Guests David Glover and Jimmy Hardin from De Leon attended and praised the informative session. The group discussed an awards banquet and an annual tour planned with the county TAP Committee likely for June 3 at Vie Isham eatery.

Texas Historical Society Holds Austin Meeting May 8 10
The Texas State Historical Association founded 1897 meets in Austin at the Driskill Hotel May 8 10 drawing about 34 historians from 31 colleges and universities. Dr Chester A Newland Lyndon B Johnson Library delivers keynote at Friday dinner. The Coral Tullis Memorial Award honors a top Texas history contribution. The meet ends with a Saturday luncheon where C L Sonnichsen UT El Paso speaks. The H Bailey Carroll Award honors best article in Southwestern Historical Quarterly 1968 69. Mrs W T House celebrates her 92nd birthday May 9 at a local rest home. she is a long time First Baptist member.
