Gustine 1969 Top Students Jenny Kingsbury Harold Harrison

Jenny Kingsbury and Harold Harrison were named top Gustine High School graduates for 1969. Kingsbury, valedictorian with a 93.42 average, led in activities from basketball to student government and Beta Club. Harrison, salutatorian with 90.83, starred in football and basketball and led FFA, Beta Club, and student council. Graduation is May 16 at the Gustine High School Auditorium with Baccalaureate May 11 at 8 p.m.

Band Concert Friday Night at Comanche High School

Comanche High School presents the Comanche Indian Band in concert in the high school auditorium Friday May 16 at 7 30 p m. The program features a variety of musicals and solo performances by standout students. Admission is one dollar for adults fifty cents for children and preschoolers admitted free. Also recognizes Band Sweetheart Miss Sharon Peaty.

Senior Citizens To Organize Here May 28

The Senior Opportunities and Services Program will hold its first Comanche meeting in the Hospitality Room of TP and L building on Wednesday May 28 from 1 to p.m. The event aims to organize a monthly agenda for senior activities and info on available services. Refreshments will be served. transportation can be arranged by calling 256-3080.

County H D Clubs Meet At Stag Creek Saturday Nite

The Home Demonstration Clubs of Comanche County hold a combined meeting on Saturday the 17th at 7 30 p m at the Stag Creek Community Center. Guest Billy Joe Works game warden presents a slide program on Family Recreation and Outdoor Safety. Members and guests invited. Bring a piece supper for your family. VFW Buddy Poppy Sale Planned for Comanche

VFW Post in Comanche announces Buddy Poppy sales on Saturday May 24 with volunteers from the post Ladies Auxiliary and local youth groups. Net proceeds fund local veteran relief and welfare, with a portion supporting nationwide rehabilitation and contributions to the VEW National Home in Eaton Rapids Michigan.

Local Artists Invited To Exhibit At PAR Club

PAR Country Club invites Comanche and Gustine artists to exhibit two paintings each in the clubhouse for May through July. Works will be placed in the main hall and bridge room by Mrs. Ben Sudderth, Mrs. Wm. Calhoun, and Mr. and Mrs. John Hathcock on June 2. Dublin Stephenville area artists and De Leon Gorman artists will follow later. Contact decorator chair Hiram Smith of De Leon to participate.

Williams Accepts Full Scholarship to FW Christian Junior College

CHS star Billy Williams signs a two year full scholarship with Fort Worth Christian Junior College. Williams will play basketball and run track for the Falcons, and he owns the district 880 yard run record. FW Christian, coached by Don Neill, went 22-14 last season and will compete in the North Zone against Cisco Ranger Weatherford Navarro Hill County and Temple Junior Colleges. The Falcons will also face freshman teams from North Texas UT Arlington ACC Baylor and Murray State. Williams is CHS outstanding athlete and Tri-Captain. he also earned three football letters.

Mike Reagan and Susan Kimmell Top Students at Gustine

Mike Reagan and Susan Kimmell were named top students of the eighth grade at Custine High School. Reagan earned valedictorian honors with a 89.50 average and moved from Kermit joining football basketball and track. Kimmell held salutatorian status with 88.10 and was a three year pep squad member and cheerleader. graduation is set for Thursday May 15 at Gustine High School Auditorium.

Klingman Gifts 5000 Toward Comanche Public Library

At the Friends of the Comanche Public Library annual meeting Ernest Ebell announced Dr. C C Klingman gave 5000 to the new library in memory of his late wife Minnie Cunningham. Members totals and dues were reported as 568 members and 1517.50, with officers elected for the coming year.

Baccalaureate Services at High School Auditorium

Students and faculty prepare for the baccalaureate ceremony held Sunday evening in the high school auditorium. The service features a processional, prayers, hymns, a patriotic reading, a sermon titled God of Our Fathers, and musical selections by the school choir and accompanists.
