Man with no legs runs unique Comanche watchmaking school
Ernest Tupin, a Comanche resident who lost both legs and an arm, runs an unusual school teaching watchmaking. Thirty students, including 26 World War I veterans, learn at bright benches under Tupin's guidance as he moves among them with eyepiece in hand. He opened the program in 1938 with the State Vocational Rehabilitation, helping handicapped persons gain a skilled trade.
