Sixth Annual Milk Stock Exhibit and Dairy Day Near Ball Park

Death Notice for Bob Hendrix in Van Dyke Community
Bob Hendrix 5 died Sunday May 4 at his Van Dyke home after three years of illness. Services were at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Griffin and Rev. T N Carter officiating. Interment in Zion Hill Cemetery. Survived by wife Lillie Lucy Carter two children Charlie Hendrix and Mrs Roy Loudermilk four grandchildren and several relatives. He was a longtime farmer and active Zion Hill member born May 10 1884 in Brown County.

Lake Brownwood Regatta Gathers Motorsports Day Sunday
The 12th annual Lake Brownwood Regatta will be Sunday May 11 at District Park side of the lake. Fourteen races feature hydroplanes runabouts and stock boats with drivers from six Southwestern states competing for 1400 dollars in prizes. The Light Crust Doughboys will perform at 12 30 p m and between races.

Beattie High Students Tour South Texas Educational Trip
Beattie High School juniors and seniors traveled May 1 on an educational excursion to Galveston and nearby sites. The group toured Huntsville Prison including death row and the Goree Prison for women, then spent time in Galveston at Edgewater Cabannas and aboard the Carmen Cita. They visited Texas City and learned from SS Lykes officials, fished 600 pounds of red snappers aboard the Cavalier, and viewed Gulf waters. Chaperoned by Beattie faculty and school board members, the trip included several students named Oleta Fisher through Joe Frank Ross and local guardians.

First Roping Of Season At Comanche Rodeo Arena
The Comanche Roping Club announces its first calf roping of the season at the local arena next Tuesday night. Roping will occur twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the summer with more horses and ropers this year. Brahma calves have been purchased and are ready for local ropers. admission is free and the public may attend without club membership.

Five hundred forty five acres of vetch in the area were treated with benzenehexachloride by commercial airplanes from Texas A&M College to destroy pests.
