Fresh Irish potatoes grow through winter in Comanche
John J. Dean of Route 1 Comanche planted fall potatoes around Sept 15 1943 and harvested very fine firm potatoes March 29. He usually plants Aug 15 but dry August delayed last year. Sprouting before planting reduces emergence by two to three weeks. Maude L. Hooten says a display of these potatoes is in the Farm Security Office. The term scot free traces to an English fine.
