Canning Sugar Regulations Announced For County
A new interpretation of the OPA sugar ruling sets a ten pound per person allotment across the county with a 20 pound per person limit only if some residents do not apply. A special panel will review applications to ensure fair distribution, with no second filings allowed and a maximum of eight persons per family counted. After review, coupons in one or five pound units will be issued and must be signed for by a family member using War Ration Book Four. The ration period runs March 8 to October 31 and only one application per family is allowed.
